My hands down favorite trilogy of all time is Back to the Future. Kind of strange that the future is now actually in the past, but all of the tributes and attention paid to the series this year was awesome!

The Rocky films will always be #1 to me. Although only II, III and IV really fall into that decade.
Lethal Weapon was a lot of fun. UHF...
...in retrospect, how is there no Weird Al parody in the game?! Haha.

I'm a big action movie buff so Rambo, Terminator, Commando, RoboCop. All classics. I also have a lot of nostalgia for the Masters of the Universe movie. I'm kind of afraid to go back and watch it in case it doesn't live up to my memories.

I knew making this list a few years ago would come in handy... I put this together after a debate at work one day. I rated every movie on criteria like "re-watchability", the impact it had on pop-culture, did it make stars out of the leads, and so on. The odd part is that many movies towards the bottom of the list are ones I consider favorites over some towards the middle. Might be time to re-visit the rankings I gave to some of these. Anyway, here are the (my) Top 80 Movies of the 80s
1 Die Hard 2 Raiders of the Lost Ark 3 The Terminator 4 The Empire Strikes Back 5 Ghostbusters 6 The Breakfast Club 7 Back to the Future 8 Predator 9 Lethal Weapon 10 Airplane! 11 Risky Business 12 Sixteen Candles 13 Friday the 13th 14 The Goonies 15 Commando 16 The Road Warrior 17 The Naked Gun 18 E.T. 19 Beverly Hills Cop 20 Caddyshack 21 Big 22 Top Gun 23 Revenge of the Nerds 24 The Karate Kid 25 Rocky III 26 Batman 27 Scarface 28 Purple Rain 29 National Lampoon's Vacation 30 Aliens 31 Ferris Bueller's Day Off 32 Pee Wee's Big Adventure 33 Platoon 34 The Little Mermaid 35 They Live 36 Fast Times at Ridgemont High 37 The Blues Brothers 38 Scrooged 39 Red Dawn 40 Superman II 41 Escape from New York 42 First Blood 43 The Lost Boys 44 48 Hours 45 The Evil Dead II 46 Gremlins 47 Trading Places 48 Robocop 49 Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 50 Dirty Dancing 51 Fatal Attraction 52 The Return of the Living Dead 53 Fletch 54 Stripes 55 Blade Runner 56 Silverado 57 The Thing 58 Blue Velvet 59 Beetlejuice 60 Planes, Trains and Automobiles 61 Who Framed Roger Rabbit? 62 Footloose 63 Top Secret 64 UHF 65 A Nightmare on Elm Street 66 Say Anything 67 Stand by Me 68 War Games 69 Back to School 70 Poltergeist 71 Porky's 72 Raising Arizona 73 Do the Right Thing 74 Highlander 75 Road House 76 Fright Night 77 Clue 78 Desperately Seeking Susan 79 Raging Bull 80 Big Trouble in Little China

If you're not down with 80s comedies, I've got two words for ya...
UNCLE BUCK!!!
Man, that movie really turned me on to John Candy as a comic actor. I was so deeply saddened when he died...way too soon for me.

Talk on another thread reminded me of this one. SUPER 80's style cheese and weirdness here (which is the best, of course ). I'm still a fan of these kind of non-CGI special effects (puppets, slime, etc). I think they did a pretty cool job bringing the Kids to life.

It looks like a pretty blatant Gremlins ripoff.

I like the way Mr Fantasy thinks. 80s had so many different genres you don't see done the same anymore, like the type in those posters. Horror films are a big one in that regard, too. No one does real horror like they used to: Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser, and the list goes on down to those great VHS b and c level slasher flicks.
Didn't see Weird Science listed by anyone yet. Kelly LeBrock in that creation scene....if you don't know, you'd better check youtube, son.
