EA’s NHL series has the worst community, by far. If you have a legitimate gripe about a gameplay mechanic (CPU wins every 50/50 puck, poke checks result in penalties far too often), the universal community response is “git gud scrub”. But what really sets it apart is the blatant racism and sexism. I mean, every tenth guy you run across in World of Chel (online team play) is a black player with a thinly veiled racist name and a play-by-play name of Harambe, and every fifth guy is named some variation of “Barry McCockiner” or “Oliver Clothesoff” to name some mild examples. I blame EA, because they don’t police it. sounds like a light weight Fifa/NFL |

FIFA might be similar, I don’t have experience with the online community. I think what hits me about NHL is that I (who am white) love hockey, and so does my brother in law, who is black. We play together on a real life team— this is his first season, and he’s gotten nothing but positive support about being there. Then I go online to play NHL with him and I’m embarrassed and appalled. And he’s like, “Don’t let it bother you, I’m used to it.” It’s a personal reminder of how much things still suck for people of color, for some of my friends and family, and how far we have to go to change things. |

on fifa you can't name your team anything bad but on pro clubs there was someone on drop in called nate higgers
