Jericho is “aging rock star” Jericho. His job is not to be 1998 WCW Jericho where he has 20 minute cruiserweight flippy matches (they’ve got plenty of guys to do that). His job is to cut promos and get others over, and he does a hell of a job with that. Hager has never been the best but he serves a purpose as a legit amateur champion/MMA guy where it’s a big deal when someone beats him. Ortiz is so damn entertaining it’s great. Him flopping in the OJ was hilarious, and he’s terrific in small doses and with Santana. Guevara is soooooo good. So good. He’s got the most punchable hair in wrestling, and he truthfully handled the issues dig up from his past incredibly well. MJF is a top three promo right now and makes you believe HE believes everything he says. Brian Cage moves way better than I expected him to. Yes, he is a walking steroid, but he can go and has a move set beyond his bodybuilding, unlike Luger. Dark Order has finally developed into a decent faction, and it’s because of Brodie Lee. Making them a scientology spoof rather than a creepy supernatural cult is way better. They were not good when they started. Your point about Scorpio is valid. Mox is a badass. Any other opinion is invalid. Omega... the Bucks... they’re running the company and making other people look tremendous. They’re putting out BTE weekly. They’re established superstars going 50/50 with indie guys to get them over. And they were 3/4 of the first ever 6* tag match if you’re a Meltzer guy. And Cody... is actually my least favorite of the bunch. Great worker, great storyteller. Every match seems like it has six run ins, blood, and a screwy finish. To me, he’s a heel masquerading as a face (much like The Miz when he was up against Shane), and his portrayal is incredibly self-indulgent and pompous. (C’mon, his entrance gets smoke, he rises from below the stage, he gets flames and pyro?) But at least I recognize that my opinion of him is in the minority. You haven’t even mentioned some of the best guys there. Rey Fenix does things that should not be humanly possible. Pentagon is excellent. Jurassic Express is entertaining as hell. FTR has been great. Lance Archer is a beast. I get that it’s not for everybody. The matches aren’t completely wrestling, per se, but like watching a Cirque du Soleil routine at times. Everybody dives, which makes each dive less important. But the best things I can say are: 1. They have storylines and stick to them until the payoff. 2. If a storyline gets dropped, there’s an explanation. 3. Everybody gets a chance to shine in their own way. 4. They have an extremely diverse roster, in style and personality. All in all, I’ve watched very little WWE this year, because I watch Dynamite, BTE, and sometimes Dark. It’s a better product.

I don't get opinions like these. If you don't like AEW, just don't watch it. It's as simple as that. Personally I think it's the most entertaining wrestling show out there at the moment. I actually look forward to each new episode of Dynamite. I would hardly call guys like Mox, Jericho and FTR jobbers, look at the amounts of money WWE was willing to throw at them just to keep them on the roster. Also, it makes sense that the homegrown guys start out in the midcard, since they have to make a name for themselves before you push them up the card. in all fairness when something gets over hyped it can get annoying to just hear about (especially when they just turn out to be just ok or very very subjective in taste) Personally I'm liking AEW so far (granted I've only watch 4 episodes of dark and 2 of dynamite)

I think much of the initial hype hurt AEW at the beginning. Before they started people seemed to believe that it would be the second coming of the Attitude Era and when they found out that it was "just" a good wrestling show people started to rag on it.

While I agree with a lot of Cornette’s criticisms of AEW, I think he’s too harsh on them in some regards. Whether or not he believes it himself or if it’s just to rile up his audience is another thing.
For the most part the AEW roster is not my cup of tea. There are a few standouts (MJF is a megastar in the making that WWE would have ruined), but I’ve personally never liked the Bucks or Omega and I’ve seen their work prior to AEW so my opinion is not solely based on their current project.
I get the feeling that right now AEW is trying to be the American version of New Japan while at the same time trying to be on the same level as WWE, which can make for a very inconsistent product. One thing I give AEW credit over any WWE/NXT show: I feel like I’ve seen something every week. Each episode feels important. I forget what happens on WWE/NXT almost right after it happens.

My main bug bear (or is it bug bare?) is the constant chirps at WWE when there is literally no need at all.
They have a talented & motivated roster, the best tag-team in the world (FTR), the GOAT (Jericho) and a stupidly rich owner.
They've put on some really good matches, but constant talk about ratings makes me think of Nitro when it was going down the toilet. Re-doing the Austin/Tyson angle pretty much exactly the same was daft.
NXT for me still puts on the best show week in week out.
Biggest AEW Positives Adam "Hangman" Page - I think the drinking thing is getting a bit OTT now but before that he was great. Superb in the ring and really good on the mic. He should be AEW's biggest star right now. FTR - quite simply the greatest tag-team in the world at the moment, and probably the greatest since the Bulldogs and the Harts. A proper tag-team. Funny that they were just chucked together in NXT but it worked, big time. Jericho with a mic in his hand - Yes he's not the Jericho of the 90's and 00's in the ring anymore and has deffo put on a bit of timber, but with a mic or a headset, the man is pure gold. MJF - probably the best heel around at the mo, isn't bad in the ring either!
Biggest AEW Negatives The Cody invitational - yes it's a great opportunity for some indy talent to showcase themselves but what's the point in it being a title match? We know they're not going to win! The announcing - Excalibur is OK but comes across as too awkward for me. Ross is still great but seems lost regularly. Schiovane still thinks he's on Nitro (but improved the announcing group no end when he joined). The women's division - Big fan of Shida, Baker has been great recently, but the rest? I have no doubt it'll get better but at the moment it's painful to watch. I'm often fast forwarding through matches. Blood for no reason - People seem to be blading on a regular basis. Why? What does it add? There's been so many cuts it's lost any impact.
Biggest AEW Potential Sammy Guevera - yes he may be a bit (or a lot) of a twat, but I still love the guy! I love the signs! He's made some big mistakes recently though which will hold him back. FTR v the Elite - I'm a huge mark for FTR if that hasn't come across already. Their matches with DIY in particular are some of my all time favourites. I'm really looking forward to the day when they make the Bucks look like fools and they face Omega/Page.

I know it would never happen, but I would LOVE to see an AEW official throw a tag match out because of double-teaming for more than ten seconds. Just have a ref call it like a shoot. If the boys can't work within their own modified rules, that's their problem.

If the boys can't work within their own modified rules, that's their problem. I could actuallly see that happening, maybe even very soon. FTR seems to be getting an entire episode devoted to them this week. Maybe they convince Arn or Tully to guest ref a Young Bucks match?
