What if, in a bit of a nod to MMW, 8MWR had 4 versions of each card? But, to keep with the time frames, it was 2 versions in the 80's and 2 in the 90's? It would take some work for sure, but more pop culture related stuff could then be folded in without having to create new characters. And for some of the wrestlers, there would only need to be one or two new alts...
Example
80s: Ace Arcadium, Ace of Spades 90s: Ace of Spades, New Alt (Maybe a Ringmaster parody or a Hollywood Blondes)
Don't know if it would work, but just something that has been in my brain while doing runs in both games...

I think it works better in MM because there's no time limits. It would be rougher in 80smania because sometimes you have more or less gimmicks in those periods. (Like O'Hooligan having 3 gimmicks in the 80s as does Valedictorian while Troglo has 1ish gimmick in the 80s and 3 in the 90s)

This is exactly why we need 80sMWRGM. Through the 80s and 90s, wrestlers went through name/gimmick/outfit changes galore. Some had a lesser known start in a certain territory back then before moving to another one. Other than WWF, Crocket NWA, AWA, and later WCCW, you usually only saw the territory in your area. Regardless if there are enough for 4 different characters or not, we still need it for the ones that do have 3 or 4. Plus, on MMWGM, a lot of alts are the same person, gimmick, and have the same biography, except they have different color versions. The years might be harder to determine, but overall I believe it could work with many alts just having another outfit, but during the same years. Think of Tully Blanchard (which we still need) or Dusty Rhodes, and how they had normal ring attire, but sometimes wore street clothes and real cowboy boots in War Games or Bunkhouse Stampede matches.
