Shout out to briareos for asking these questions to me.
Hey everyone, this is MystMotone101 again, and I got asked this question by someone who likes my guides, so I figured I'd make a part to help people when it comes to how to progress in the game.
"Progressing is easy, you get more wrestlers, you get more money, you get better venues, and so on." That is not the case. In fact, I'd argue it's the opposite. There are plenty of ways to progress through a game of 80s Mania, but if you don't get money, then your progression will be a lot slower than it normally is. So, I plan on answering the questions given by briareos and I will give a thorough analysis on what is the best course of action.
The first question is "Should I focus on maxing out my guys stats so I can unlock merch or focus on putting the best guys in each match or interview or skit slot to max my star rating?"
The answer to that question is, both. Max out wrestlers to get merch, but when you don't need to put a wrestler in a promo or skit for a potential stat gain, then maxing out the star rating will be the best option. Let's suppose you have Zen & Iron Mask, and you plan on using a Dramatic Promo skit. If Iron Mask already has his 13 Pop, then putting Zen for the guaranteed output would be the better course of action. If not, then leveling up Mask here would not be a bad idea. But, above all else, what earns you money is merch. Leveling up your wrestlers to get merch cards is more important than stars, because merch is guaranteed money. Stars average out and a bad skit or promo could be balanced out with a good match.
Next up, "Should I focus on the higher cost guys in the shop or try to get all the openers and work on maxing them?"
This, is one of the more interesting questions I have gotten. The big thing here is that Openers only give you $15 for merch, and it can become a hassle. On the other hand, higher guys could require you to use precious tokens. Either way, the main thing to look at is on the back. (Total Draw) Total Draw is what helps determine ticket sales, and for the most part help easily determine some of the better wrestlers in the game. If there's an Opener with a good total draw in the shop (guys like Chet Skye), then getting them will help your show a lot more than some Upper Mid-Card and Main Event wrestlers will (COUGH, Jupiter). If the Openers or Mid-Card wrestlers don't have a good Total Draw, then it could be pointless to level them up, as they might actually hurt your ticket sales. This is the main thing I say to this.
Quality, is better than quantity.
And that is extremely important, even if there are P4Vs that require you to have a certain amount of wrestlers to choose a more enhanced version of that P4V, like Summer Smash or Survival Series. If you have the wrestlers to make the show great, then go for it. Otherwise, sticking to the regular might be better, as the quality of the show would be better overall.
So with that said, I said everything I needed to I think. Again, if you have any questions or possible ideas for future parts, message me or comment down below. My goal is to help as many people be able to play 80s Mania Wrestling Returns and help people build great federations, to hopefully transition into something great. This is MystMotone101, signing out (and for the love of all things that Mr. Fantasy loves, do NOT get Jupiter.)
