History will always remember what you did in the pitch more than the sum of your trophies...great performances leave a mark in people's minds....
And multiple wins are rare in any case...few teams reach back to back finals let alone win them.
Roberto Baggio, Cruyff, Zico, etc will always be remembered over Olivier Giroud, Paulo SĂ©rgio, FĂĄbio Grosso, and Fernando Torres when it comes to the world cup.

Youâll never surpass his legend. to carry on with the greatest to never win I'd like to bring up Messi who is arguably the true GOAT (I'd still put Pele and maradona above him) his last chance had to be last year and he could carry Argentina which is kind of sad because in the future that's what people are going to discredit him for For me personally I'd choose the win not because I want a trophy but because I want Mexico to have one |

Gotcha.
Iâd rather have the 26-1 record in a sport where you canât control the competition (professional athletics). However, the exception to that is college athletics, where the conference you play in and your competition level in your other games matters greatly come year end tournaments and rankings. In basketball, youâd rather be 21-10 with wins over 5 top-25 opponents in the ACC (that probably gets you a 6-7 seed) than 27-3 in the Mid-Jabroni Athletic Conference (which gets you stomped by Duke or Kansas in the first round with your 15 seed).
