If you're like me, and I know I am, one of my favorite things about watching wrestling as a kid was the commentary. I absolutely loved the banter between JR and the King! This got me thinking about an idea for the game. Hear me out...
Step #1. Add commentators to the store. It would probably be best to make them similar to the managers. A Jim Ross type commentator would of course be a good guy. He knows what he's talking about in terms of moves so he might get a +2 in skill, but we all know JR for his over the top commentary (there are youtube videos highlighting some of his best moments), so he would probably get a +3 for mic skill. Meanwhile Jerry the King Lawler didn't really bring much in term of technical lingo, so give him a 0 for skill. Where the King really did shine though was his mic skills, and the excitement and energy he brought to the table. Perhaps a +3 for mic and pop! The commentator doesn't effect the outcome of the match however, so no push rating.
Step #2. Add a new tab to each show. Perhaps give each show one commentator spot and allow user to purchase more for a steep price. If I were to put my JR commentator on the show each segment would receive the appropriate flavor bonus that his commentary provides.
Step #3. Just like how each wrestler has a star rating, each commentator would have one too. I'd rather see a match called by Gorilla Monsoon and Vince McMahon as opposed to one called by Michael Cole and Todd Pendergrass. Better commentator(s) make for a better show. Boost your ratings, your star power, and the money you receive for each show.
What do you think?

I feel like if we were to get them they should be like manger minus the push and something like a overall show bonus

I feel like if we were to get them they should be like manger minus the push and something like a overall show bonus True. The commentators enhance the entire show, not just a single match. On the other hand, you're in the seat (either in the arena or in front of the television set) for the wrestlers, not the commentators. They should be a joyful bonus for a show, not a necessity to it.

Maybe the commentators could give certain matches a boost depending on the types of wrestlers used.
Showman - J.R. Specimen - Jerry Lawler Hulk - Vince McMahon Bigmouth - Bobby Heenan Ghoulie - Paul Heyman
etc.

Amazing! We're working on a future update that's very similar to what's being described here. You guys are the best!

Amazing! We're working on a future update that's very similar to what's being described here. You guys are the best! Thank you. We are trying to logically think of how to use Commentators to benefit the game. I myself would love to see them as an enhancement to the entire card, as opposed to a single match. And there should be slots for two commentators per card (as two seems to be a minimal number from what I remember). And don't forget the Celebrity Commentator match for P4Vs.

I hope, however this gets implemented, that you get a wide range of commentators....but with enough "time frame", cost and maybe even achievement conditions that it doesn't make it very easy or unbalances the game by going overboard with the effect. Might even be a good idea to let you select your team and it "can't change" for a certain amount of time...maybe per half-decade or full-decade...especially if any of the commentators give a direct or indirect bonus to how much money you earn per show....the last thing anyone wants is for the game to let you legally become a billionaire overnight Here's my suggestive take: Low Level Commentators: (low cost...only money?) - One that puts over mic spots for a potential increase in rating - One that puts over Skits for a potential increase in rating - One that favors women's matches - One that favors a specific style of wrestler (Good Ol Boy (rasslers), Papa Dock (ghoulie), Blue Jimbo (athletes), etc.) - One that favors a specific type of match (Hardcore Joe (based on Joey Styles),etc.) These would all have minor effects on the results. Mid-Level Commentators (cost major money...maybe 300K or a Token) - One that pushes merch sales (you get a 5-15% bonus on merch sales) - One that will randomly add an extra * to your lowest rated segment - One that favors a specific fan type and adds a "behind the scene" +3 bonus to those wrestlers (Gibbon Flood (a.k.a Gorilla Monsoon), Immaculate (a.k.a Jesse Ventura), etc. - One that can "talk them into the building"...% chance of Doubling the attendance at a give show. - One that gets you venues at a lower cost (say 20% off) High-Level Commentators (should cost several tokens to get as they can be "game breakers" in the wrong or right hands) - One that adds a higher merch sales perk (15-25%) - One that adds a star to every match on the card - One that let's you Autofill for a reduced (or no cost) Some ideas to consider lol!

I LOVE everything about this EXCEPT the idea of gaining more income.Everyone would just buy and use that card everytime since in reality the ONLY incentive in this game so far is earning money to purchase cards. IF there was a card such as this, I feel at MINIMUM it should only be able to be used once a month otherwise it'll break the pace of the game.

For those kinda buffs you definitely have to have some kind of limit...I'd say even reduce the % to even lower values so that it only pays off after a very long time...or limit usage per month like you say.... Or you know what? You could drop them altogether now that I think about it as everything in the game translates into money one way or another....so that kind of bonus is like a bonus on a bonus as a matter of principle.

Personally I love the idea of commentators having levels similar to wrestlers, so like a main event level commentator has awesome stats and are set as purely the best (JR, Heenan, Solie, Heyman, etc.) while there are upper midcards, midcards, openers, and jobbers for commentary. Of course, it is a specific set of two for a show, but maybe it can restrict your commentators for each show? Like Superstar Saturday (or w/e the first show’s name is) can be only midcard or above of something to emulate B-level shows like WWF Superstars of Wrestling or WCW Thunder
This then leads into pairings. Pairings would be the equivalent of teams/feuds, but for commentators. They’d increase stats for both sides, which in turn can give better ratings to segments. And of course these’d be used for legendary pairings like JR/Lawler, Monsoon/Heenan, Schiavone/Heenan, Cole/Tazz, etc. etc.

Paul Heyman is very closely associated with ECW, which definitely was known for their barbed wire, violence, and ghoulie-like behavior. Maybe Paul E doesn’t look like he just rose from the dead, but I’d definitely put him, and for that matter wrestlers like Terry Funk and Cactus Jack in the “ghoulie” category for that reason.
