Just wondering but what does a perfect wrestling show to you. A wrestling show that will keep you entertained for years and will never get old to you. What does it need?

Just wondering but what does a perfect wrestling show to you. A wrestling show that will keep you entertained for years and will never get old to you. What does it need? 1. 80's/90's Great Muta 2. Women 3. Alcohol 4. More alcohol and women 5. Well-written plots, talented wrestlers, less "sports entertainment", believable characters. Really 1 and 5 isn't 100% necessary for me to have a good time tho.

1. Engaging storylines 2. Well defined characters 3. Wrestlers with unique movesets 4. Stick to the rules that are established

1. Gimmick matches 2. Cool high flying moves 3. Storylines which keep you guessing. If there was a storyline which based itself on a 'web of lies' that would be marvellous.

No “this is awesome / you deserve it / you’ve still got it / what” chants.
No flip flop fly matches where they all just try to get all their shit in without actually selling anything.
No women’s matches.

I'm old school WWF from the 80s. Here are some things that I miss from those days that made it great:
1) The commentary. Either Bobby the Brain & Gorilla Monsoon going back and forth or Jesse Ventura giving Vince hell, the guys had chemistry and what they were saying was interesting enough and they focused on the match. 2) Wrestlers were larger than life. Wrestlers back then had something going for them to distinguish them above the regular ham & eggers and they all had some gimmick, backstory or personality that made them seem special. 3) There were only like 2 shows a week, Primetime on Monday and TNT on Tuesday. Then you had the occasional Saturday Night Main Event. Made it more special and there were only 4 PPVs a year which were super special. Feuds meant more, matches seemed more important. 4) Mean Gene. Did a hell of a job helping get guys over in interviews and promos. 5) A good mix of wrestlers and wrestling styles. 6) Gimmicks that werent afraid to lampoon subjects that would offend people.

Honestly.. I think it takes a bit of everything to make a perfect wrestling show/ppv/event... every style, every kind of character. The worlds too big and people who enjoy the genre.. now a days.. they enjoy not only American style wrestling but lucha, and strong style, and European chain wrestling, and etc..
as “traditionalists” and “purists” of this form of theatre will tell you. They need this and that.. but they forget those are just eras of wrestling that were just ripped off storylines and characters from the era before them.. and that’s the case today as welll.
Nothing in wrestling has really changed all that much.. storylines, characters, the sheer lunacy and lawlessness of a wrestling organization and it’s employees being outside of the law.. people just always gonna complain.. difference between now and the 80s
People got better stuff to do now a days

Great American Bash '89 and WWF's Canadian Stampede are just about as good as this crazy sport gets.

This makes it easy to guess who are probably going to be turning in to AEW and who wont be.
I like nostalgia, but I like it mixed with the unexpected. So, for example, I liked the Fiend and Lawler doing something together. I like big booms and pyro, probably because while I cut my teeth on mid to late 80s wrestling I really got into it right around the Attitude Era with LOTS of big flash. I like characters more than real people, give me a Hogan, Undertaker, Mankind, Macho Man Randy Savage, Ric Flair over just a guy going out to do a match because whatever it was that motived Randy Orton to go do a rest hold for 5/4ths of his match. Give me story, a reason to care about whoever is out there. The Boss hates who is the face of his company, a faction has derailed the whole promotion, George Steel really REALLY likes your manager, Vader is part of a not so secret organization that wants to take Stings lunch money. Just a story that gets some emotion involved. I want a "did that just happen?" moment and it doesn't have to be a big spot like Snuka jumping off that cage, Mankind getting thrown off a different cage, or seeing lots and lots of blood. It can be something just unexpected like Piper and the coconut, Mr. Socko checking on Vince in the hospital, or Judy Bagwell being told she will be on a pole for a match (but not that actual match itself). Problem with this is it can either be a huge success or a huge pile you want to avoid so planning it even for one event can be very difficult. I like a mix of matches and styles, it doesn't have to be TLC again but throwing some people in who can work together but have VASTLY different styles works really well sometimes like with Eddie VS JBL and Kane VS Kurt Angle.
So I guess in a round about way, I would have to say there's lots that could make a show perfect and while I know what I like I also have no real answer. I hope you all enjoyed my convoluted answer of random stuff that I really like.
