“There are 5 people in a conference room, looking through papers and details about a possible expansion into the 80s, for the International Wrestling Circuit. One of these men, is Miles Faraday, the owner of the Circuit.
Miles: First of all, thank you for coming to this meeting on such short notice. As you know, the first 5 years of this company were solid, giving us good ratings on syndicated TV and some talented performers on our roster. Now, going into 1980, we look to expand to a national level, and we’re going to need to think of a strategy to get us there. So, scout, are there any new wrestlers to look into signing?
Scout: Well, there is a freelancer known as Arizona Chance who’s been making waves across various promotions. He might be expensive, but if we can secure a deal with him, then the sky’s the limits. There is also a big wrestler at 6’10, 315 pounds. The major issue he’s facing is the lack of a gimmick that works for him. He might be cheap, but his skill is up there with the best. As for ladies, there are two popular wrestlers who despise each other but put on very strong matches, with one of them having one of the best mic skills in the business. They are Spunky Sparks and…
Miles: I think I know who you’re talking about. Okay, so, ratings guy, whatever we call you, how is our current active roster at the moment?
Ratings Guy: The best feud of our previous year was Star Boy VS The Piranha, the crowd loving almost every encounter the two wrestlers have had, especially for the TV title. And it shows with ratings for that title usually going through the roof. Dr. B is showing solid ratings as well, with his promos riling the crowd up and his matches being solid hits. The Tag Team Division as also showcased some solid work, even with the 3 teams we have at the moment, with the Neon Express being the most popular.
Miles: And that’s why they are the champs, at the moment anyways.
Ratings Guy: Anyway, the Ladies Division is still picking up some traction, with Princess Starbright being popular, but not so much on wrestling TV. Her commercials and skits are what sell her to the audience. What also doesn’t help are the lack of Ladies title matches on the standard cycle, so people barely know they exist. As for the Cruiserweight Division, Red Pirate Rogers is an okay champion, but he’s not pulling the ratings. Anyway, that’s it for the ratings. Hopefully we can utilize the best things we have and pull forward some good ratings for this national expansion.
Miles: Alright, now for our budget, I know the syndicated TV deal helped out, and I know we did sell out the last Beyond War Dome, but I’m curious about how much money we actually have.
Budget Manager: With Beyond War Dome selling out, we were able to get a net profit of $300,000, putting our budget for this year at 1 million dollars. Considering that camera work and venues will make up $200,000 and the TV deal expansion for other networks is going to make that $300,000, we still have $500,000 to put into wrestling talent, which is solid, but not enough to get the biggest names in the business.
Miles: Cool, a solid budget to get us started. Now finally, there is still one more thing we need to address. It’s the current situation with injuries. Medic, did you get a medical check with everyone?
Medic: Indeed Miles, I have the documents right here. It states that every wrestler on our active roster at the moment is perfectly healthy and raring to go. However, Dr. B has stated that he should not wrestle for the first part of the month, due to some tear on his leg during his match with Zen.
Miles: Very well, that should cover everything for the time being. Thank you all for being here for this conference. Scout, try to get me in talks with all of the people you just mentioned, Ratings Guy, check the ratings for every show from 1979 and make sure we know where any ratings spikes or dips might have happened. Budget manager, you just keep track of the money, and Medic, if anyone comes up to you regarding injuries, check them.
All 4: Yes sir.
Miles: You are all dismissed.
The other four leave the room, and Miles stays in the conference room.
Miles: I still have one more conversation I need to have. “Presses a button on the intercom.” Bring in Buzzsaw.
