Kenny Omega revealed an AEW game will probably be announced by the end of the year. Hopefully it'll be a fun crazy game like the old WWE games like no mercy & Here comes the pain. I thought of doing the whole update thing again, but I don't wanna wear out the joke.

Yeah mjf had a teaser pic to I do believe MJF’s picture has been cited as being a head scan for action figures. However, c’mon, Kenny Omega is going to open a wrestling company and NOT have a video game? Of course there was going to be a video game. I know Kenny and Cody are both fans of the THQ/AKI N64 wrestling games so I’d think they would be looking to create something that feels like a spiritual successor to those games. The only caveat is there really aren’t any developers not tied to a current franchise left out there that have experience creating a wrestling game. That may not exactly be the worst thing in the world, though. Choosing an unproven entity would fit into AEW’s company ethos of doing things differently and embracing new ideas.

Who can say? You’d think with a limited roster it’d open up some possibilities.. possibilities you maybe can’t have with such a large number of characters on the roster..
We all know what we want really
N64 no mercy with updated graphics and the AEW roster

The problem currently is all the career modes are so short...I remember starting the day after Mania and going through 2 years. But it'd be nice to have a proper long career. Everything is aimed towards online play now sadly.

At this point what I would honestly love is a game that does a career mode with some history/throwback heavily featured.
Start as a jobber in the 70s, become a midcarder in the 80s, a main event guy in the 90s, a legend in the 00s, a manager in 10s, and if you do well enough...earn the coveted spot in the WWE Hall of Fame.
The arenas, rosters, rings, commentary, etc. are all compatible with the Era you are playing in, match types as well...complete with "TV-Style cutscenes" for the earlier periods, gradually adding more color as time goes buy.
Imagine getting to wrestle guys like Sammartino or Patterson, then tagging in the 80s with someone like Don Muraco or Tito Santana, in the 90s growing into your own gimmick to reach the top, coming out of the retirement in the 00s for one last run, after retiring, becoming a manager for the next big star (you play at ringside, interfering or making saves depending on how you wanna be). You get too the Cartoon Era, the Attitude Era, Ruthless Agression, PC Erc...etc...all through the eyes and career of a single wrestler.
That I would shell out serious $$$ for!

Long career modes are hard to do... because... people need voice acting people need this and that.. then they want choices... well I wanna be a tag guy I wanna start in nxt.. there’s only 60 people on the roster I need 190... I need a gm mode...
Jeez I wouldn’t want to make a wwe game at all...
But AEW doesn’t have to worry about showcase mode.. or any these dumb modes wwe has... it doesn’t need the universe it doesn’t need anything a wwe game has really
So I think we’ll get a nice fleshed out story.. and I think everyone here is all for branching storyarchs.. more than just your typical paragon and renegade stuff.. and if you’re really ballsy give up a fire pro rip off mode
I too wanna be a tag champ I want the AEW world champ and whatever mid card belt they gonna get.. and all they need really.. is that mode.. don’t need custom make a moves don’t need this and that..
Just make a kickass character creator.. a kick ass career mode..

AEW is also going to be free from the obligation to release a new game every year. That’s why the WWE games have the showcase modes. They need to give you something discerningly different each year. It’s unnecessary given the day and age we live in, where roster updates can be released and keep a game relevant for 2-3 years. Sports games have to do it because of licensing. There is also a set beginning and end to a season. Wrestling - at least WWE - doesn’t have that. It just doesn’t make sense for an industry where outcomes are predetermined to have to follow the traditional sports game model. You have to find the sweet spot between that sports game and fighting games. I think AEW is going to hit that mark a lot closer than any WWE game has done in over a decade. Kenny has already spent the past several years building a bridge between the fighting game community and the wrestling industry. This could be the culmination of that work.

WWE has always released yearly games, even back when the games were amazing. AEW could do the same, imo, but it's alright either way.
