I have been playing this game for about three weeks now. I have it on IOS so still waiting on the new game to come out.
Does anyone know for sure how the game mechanics work in this? According to the "help" menu in the game, it sounds like the only thing that matters in matches is skill. It also seems like the only thing that matters in Mic spots are "mic" and the only thing that matters in skits is "pop".
Do any of the other stats other than skill make any difference in match rating? Also, is it worth booking lower tiered tag teams with their flavor card vs just using two high skilled singles wrestlers in tag matches? Same thing with feud cards.
I am wondering if "pop" really only has to do with skits or if it benefits you at all during a match.

To my knowledge, you have it right. Unless I've been playing for two IRL years and never realized it, the singular relevant stat is the only stat that determines your ratings. Wrestler type can also be a factor (ie, a loner will get a bonus in loner-type segments) but other numerical stars won't factor in to other types of segments. So yes, skill and skill alone determines your match ratings most of the time, unless you've got a special match type and the relevant type of wrestler, wherein that combo will give a small boost to the match rating.
As for your question about flavor cards, that largely comes down to personal preference. I like to keep the championships on actual tag teams, but that's just a me thing. And if I have a random TV event with a non-title tag match main event or something, sure, I'll just throw four of my best workers in there in the hopes of getting a really good match. If you haven't already, you'll soon start getting push bonus cards that will be of greater impact than tag team cards, though. If I have a team I want to keep on winning, I'll use the +5 push bonus rather than the tag team card. Feud cards, on the other hand, I pretty much never use under any circumstances. Helpful just when I was starting out? Sure. But after a few years, you'll have enough sponsor cards that getting +1 to a match rating isn't worth the extra $50 you could get instead by putting a sponsor card on the match.

On a related note, does whether or not a wrestler is a main eventer or a curtain jerker effect the match ratings? For instance someone like Shawn Michaels, woops, Chet Sky has a higher skill rating than a lot of the main eventers. Basically as far as match ratings are concerned, is there any benefit to using a Main Eventer vs a Curtain Jerker or midcarder with a high skill rating?

I don't believe the status has any effect on quality, and that it's more an indicator of how they'll do in terms of winning and losing. As in, a main eventer will typically have higher stats and will typically beat mid-carders and curtain-jerkers. Those are also there to help you sort through your cards faster. You could flip through 100 cards looking for one of your wrestlers, or if you know he's a main-eventer you could sort by that and only have to flip through 10 to find them. As far as I know, the statue has no effect in and of itself on quality of segments or matches.

Flavor cards do boost the match rating, I believe. Tag team flavor cards offer +1 To the match. Push ratings play into the likelihood of winning a match, but I suspect they may also impact your show's attendance/earnings. If there is no drawing power on your show or you have an opener facing a midcarder last on the show I think you'll have a poor turnout in bigger venues. I've looked for detailed info on game mechanics before but never saw any documentation

since there is already a thread for this I figured I'd put it here.
As a tabletop gamer I find myself wishing I knew what the foundation for a lot of the mechanics. Wins/losses are determined by more than just push vs push scores but I wish I knew to what extent. Does their status (opener midcarder etc) provide a bonus? Are their bonuses to push based on location of the match (if not they totally should! Hometown advantage!) Does their current W/L record affect them?
Also I cannot figure out how to consistently sell out a venue. There is obviously a random factor to attendance but I can't figure out how or if I can influence it.
How can I increase heat (boos) on my heels and does that even make a difference.
The star rating seems the most intuitive. Overall Skill improves match rating. All match ratings averaged give you the event rating. But I'm not sure what benefits higher rated events give me.
I don't need to know the games code. And I like the surprises when they happen (Moon man just beat great Ginzu for the TV title!) but I wish I knew a little better how to strategize my booking.

I think the mechanic that handles the match outcome is something like what you have in most RPG games (tabletop).
Wrestler 1: FinalPush = Push + modifiers (flavor cards) Wrestler 2: FinalPush = Push + modifiers (Flavor cards)
Delta = wrestler1.finalpush - wrestler2.finalpush
The game "rolls" a 20 sided die for each wrestler and then Delta is added to the roll of wrestler1. Them both rolls are compared and whomever is higher (wins) or draws if equal.
Confused: Here is an example:
Ace of Spaded (push 16) vs Zombie Skater (Push 1)
Delta = 16 -1 = 15.
Ace's "roll" = 5 + Delta = 20
Zombies's Roll = 12
Since Ace "rolled" higher (20 >12) Ace wins.
Another example:
Avery (Push 3) vs Beer Can Man (push 9)
Delta = 3-9 = -6.
Avery Rolls 20.
Beer Can Rolls a 13.
Avery's roll ends up 20-6 = 14 against Beer's 13, so he'd win the match.
I honestly can't see it being much more complex than that unless it takes other things into account.

Right that's what I figured as far as wins losses. Die roll plus Push vs opponents die roll plus push. But does Dizzy Lix' status as a midcarder give him a bonus vs Big Thugee as an opener? They both have a push of 5.
Also with attendance, I've seen: sold out, great crowd, decent crowd, and poor crowd. So game wise that's a 4 sided die to determine attendance. I'm assuming the quality of wrestlers at the event adds a bonus. But I just had a p4v with an awesome card and got poor. So I wonder what else is effecting it, if anything.

Not too sure how the midcard, main-eventer, etc. aspect play a role in the match quality or the crowd...especially since you can have the same push value across a range of "card positions"...

A really Poor booking to be honest. And a crap earning considering the venue costs $1200.

Not sure what conclusions one could draw from this but I'm thinking about in terms of how a programmer would and I tend to think it could work something this:
- The rating of each segment depends on the skill of the wrestlers involved and if the match type suits them (along with any flavor modifiers).
- Each segment gets an individual "score", and these get added up.
- The total is converted into a "proportional value" of a "perfect show" (5 starts across the board), let's call it Show_Score_ratio.
- The Crowd Attendance is totally random (roll of the dice) but each "level" is in fact a ratio against the Venue Capacity, so say Sold out at the Canada Center means 1200/1200 or 1; or if its poor attendance could be 400/1200 or 0.3333, etc. This value when multiplied against whatever constant represents the "per head" ticket price of the attendees gives us the Max_Possible_Earning.
- Finally you multiply the Show_Score_ratio by Max_possible_earning to get how much the show actually made(after you also add the Merch bonuses and sponsor bonuses to this result).
Could be wrong but this is one way of possibly looking at it.

Really sums up the point of my posts. If I can't figure out which button gives me a sugar cube and which button zaps me, eventually I will stop pushing buttons.
If attendance is truly 100% random, like it feels, then there really isn't a reason for me to book a good show. If it's not random, then, as a player, I need to know how to influence it.

I'm liking where this thread is going. I've booked some STACKED matches as far as skill and flavor goes, and delivered some snoozers. (Foil Chet Skye at 16 skill w/ Mr Bonsai vs. Foil Exotic Rick maxed at 17 skill w/ Big Boss - both mgrs +1 skill in a burning ring match, +3 skill for all) I'm booking ABCW where all wrestlers get +1 skill. So, I have a match that's 21 skill vs. 22 skill, heel vs. Babyface, and for some reason Chet doesnt draw a lot of heat points and the match rates ***. This was my main event in chitown/windy city. It was a *** show with poor attendance. Skits and mic spots always do well if you put the right tools in place, but matches and attendance... I just don't think you can corner it like that, and its frustrating.

I'm going to try to count the cheers/boos that guys get and see if I can find a correlation to the star rating of the match. The game is giving you this info so it must mean something. Maybe it represents the result of the die roll for the segment.
A thought I had about the wrestler's status. Maybe the status represents the size of the die used. Or how many dice are used. So openers get one six sided die (1d6) added to their push/skill and midcarders get two six sided dice. (2d6) etc. or a 4 sided die (d4) vs d6 vs d8 vs d12 etc.
I'm still not sure about how star rating; tv ratings; and attendance interact. If they do. It would be hard for me to believe that attendance was truly random. Although that would be the easiest thing from a programming perspective.

The attendance could be a function of some hidden "drawing potential" value that is either a constant or dice roll.
Perhaps proportioned like you suggested eitgrr with multiple dice the higher the status or a bigger base die (jobbers 1d4, opener 1d6, etc.

I would subscribe to the idea that push influences a drawing power which helps decide attendance. If I run a card with a lot of Mid carders I tend to see a lower draw. Maybe book some events with only Main Eventers as a control vs. Events with lesser pushed talent.

I ran a experiment I ran two weekend raslin shows back to back at the ballroom. First week I ran only local talent. No merch, no managers, only sponsors. No gimmick matches. The results surprised me. Rating: Dud! Earnings: $490 Attendance: SOLD OUT!
Second week I built the best card I could. No managers, no merch, no gimmick matches, only sponsors. Rating:two stars Earnings: $865 Attendance: Decent Crowd
So this seems to confirm that attendance is totally random. However, attendance seems to be a multiplier to your earnings that are determined by your star rating.
So for example (with hypothetical figures) if you put on a 2 star show You earn x# of dollars. And if the attendance is poor you earn x plus 5% of x. Whereas if the attendance is sold out you would earn x plus 20% of x.
So attendance does matter but there is no way to influence it but that's ok because it doesn't work like real world attendance does.
As a side note I came up with a story line reason for this to happen involving a delayed flight and the talent giving away their merchandise to apologize for missing the show.
