So I just bought Shadow and I was pumped as I was a huge G.I. Joe fan growing up. Sure enough I put him into his first match and he loses to Timmy Tough in an upset, so then I put him up against The Enhancer in this second match, and the Enhancer won!!!
What is going on here???!!!

I don’t know. I’ve noticed weird things like that, too. For the first 6 years my world title was passed between Alexei and Gunslinger almost exclusively (Richie B and Shaolin Hero came in from time to time) Then in year 6, somehow Clutch became #1 contender. So I put him in the title match, he won and had two defenses (Alexei and Richie B) before finally losing to Gunslinger again. It was frustrating to say the least.

Why would Clutch climbing the ranks to become #1 contender, you then deciding to book him for his rightful chance at the title, him winning said title, where he then goes on to legitimatize his run by defending the title twice against these other top contenders, be "frustrating to say the least?' We must be missing something because that chain of events is kinda awesome and exactly the type of thing we wanted players of this game to experience (from a wrestling booker game perspective anyway). Truly don't understand the complaint here.

Truly don't understand the complaint here. Not a complaint, just being sympathetic to the OP. In my instance, I do not understand how he got to being #1 contender. I was having him mostly in tag team work with Hotwire, where they lost most of the time. In the cases there were no tag matches that week, he would face Hotwire in the opener (mainly as I was trying to build them up to get their alts unlocked). Then boom, what seemed like out of nowhere he is in the title scene. I would agree with you on from a booker standpoint of someone who is trying to get him there and all that happening. It was out of left field for me.

I would also note I am newer to the game. I downloaded 80WR a few months back when I saw it in a YT video and played about 4 years in it every now and then. Heard this one came out and wanted to try it. I am in year 11 now of my first go around and loving it. So I may not understand all the details and features of the game.

Anyway in regards to Clutch's high ranking, he must've been racking up recent wins in order to get to #1. But even then, he'd only ever officially enter "the title scene" when the player manually opts to book him in a title or contender match. Also, you're at the risk for wonky ratings if you're booking certain guys to spam stat gains and certain other guys through the lens of logical booking. Oh, and to the OP...that sounds like a helluva story to book around for Shadow! Sorry if it's a frustrating debut, but we hope in the long run it ends up being a cool overall story for his career!

What would be the recommended way to play? I'm in 1982 on 80WR and already have 4 merch cards from guys that have been maxed through just normal play (and not knowing what I am doing). It has taken me 10 years and the training center (on Cotton Candy as I wanted to change her gimmick) to achieve the same in MMW. I was only playing the people I wanted to level up, but as I saw others making more for P4Vs, I changed to now only using those with draw of 70+ and the ones I want to level up sparingly. It has helped a little in profits and ratings, but not as much as some others seem to be doing. My highest match is still just a 3 1/2, with most of my shows being 2 1/2 stars.

Could be meshed with Noob Saibot but appears to have a more tactical look much like Snake Eyes rather that the typical ninja look that Noob tends to have.
