Also Ariane Andrew aka Cameron debuted This is the least interesting signing in a while. Hopefully she's improved since she got let go from WWE, but she wasn't all that great last time I saw her in a ring. And as much as I like Zack Ryder, much like Shawn Spears I don't know that Matt Cardona is a draw without his WWE name. On paper someone might not know who that is. Same goes for Jon Moxley to an extent. AEW has some solid former WWE guys, but instead of Cody Rhodes, Tye Dillinger, Dean Ambrose, and Zack Ryder, they have Cody, Shawn Spears, Jon Moxley, and Matt Cardona. |

I’ve been very praising of many things AEW has done, but as much as I like Cardona as a personality, he has never had that “it” factor in the ring. He moves just a fraction slower, jumps just a fraction lower, has a slightly more limited move set... he’s actually very much like the Shawn Spears signing. Good worker with decent acting/promo chops, not a game changer.
I think what he brings to the table is teaching the younger talent how to get yourself over... but they already have Dustin, Tully, Arn, DDP, Jericho, JR, Daniels, and many others who can help young talent with that aspect of things. This feels like a “he’s got a job there because he’s Cody’s compadre”, a lot like Luther being employed because he’s Jericho’s friend, and Brandon Cutler because he’s the Bucks buddy, Nakazawa because he’s Kenny’s boy. Generally, that’s a terrible way to do business— but maybe all the EVPs get one?
