Just downloaded this and am thoroughly enjoying it. Are there any tips to getting to number 1 in the ratings? I’m always 2 and 3. Does having a bigger roster and various matches help? Or better started matches?

Just downloaded this and am thoroughly enjoying it. Are there any tips to getting to number 1 in the ratings? I’m always 2 and 3. Does having a bigger roster and various matches help? Or better started matches? Takes time! Biggest issue I see with the game is people expect it to be easy. Don't care too much about ratings for your first play-through. Plan storylines you enjoy, build your own feuds, and have fun. Get through some years to get some tokens, get some stronger characters, and just enjoy the journey. I spend money on the game to get some tokens with some high level characters, but some of the most fun ones are lower tier. All for fun!

Don't worry about getting high star matches when you start out. Try to focus on buying cheap wrestlers (basically Jobbers and Openers). Increase there Skill by putting them in matches, Mike skills with interviews, and Pop with skits. They don't always increase, but if you do so, you'll unlock that wrestler's merchandise card. Remember, your going to be going through 20 years. Buy a good mix of 80's and 90's guys.
If you're not going to buy tokens, then make sure you log in each day. Every five days unlock a +$1500, every fifteen days unlocks +$5000 (which you also get your third +$1500), and every thirty days unlocks a token (along with your second $5000, and six $1500). And don't forget you can cash in that token for -$100000. So, even without cash, you're not going to suffer from lack of game cash.
Generally, avoid any segment which you have to pay for. There will be another run-through later to use such things to improve your game. After you get all the wrestlers and such, game cash becomes little more than score anyways.

Foil openers are my favorite, you can put them all throughout the card.

For PPV's, go for the most expensive stadium you can get. Because of the multiplier, you can rack up some big money. I use Silver Stadium and get around 10,000 for a PPV show.
