A few weeks ago I found this playlist on youtube: Mid-Atlantic Wrestling 1983and I've been chewing through it slowly. It's pretty amazing to see guys like Jake Roberts, Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat, The Briscos, Barry Windham, Dory Funk jr and dozens more of guys wrestling in front of like 50 people and trying to make it big. I highly recommend it! I caught some Dizzy Hogan matches, and Brutus Beefcake is so bad on the mic its crazy. Mike Rotunda too. But Piper and Sgt Slaughter were stars right away.

Don't let the size of the audience in the studio fool you. TV was used to sell people on the local house show loops. Mid-Atlantic was likely drawing thousands of people every night of the week throughout the territory.

They do occasionally show arena matches to kick off the show. A great match in January 83 between Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle against Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood has the arena crowd go off-the-chain crazy when it ends in a double-DQ.
The thing that's awesome about this playlist is that it has the shows chronologically sorted, every week, so you can follow the plot.
