What a load of horses**t this whole thing is. As a Man Utd fan I am disgusted, but I shouldn't be surprised based on who our owners are.
The whole thing stinks. I really hope if they go ahead with it the Spanish, English and Italian leagues kick them out and FIFA & UEFA work together to ban any players playing in it.

I don't hate the idea of an alternative to FIFA/UEFA, but if you are going to make it just as corrupt and greedy as the thing we already have, what's the point?

Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City, Man U, Chelsea, and Liverpool from the EPL, Atletico, Barca and Real from La Liga, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus from Serie A, and three others— maybe PSG, Dortmund and Bayern? Plus five qualifiers— the top remaining teams (one each) from Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue One?
It would absolutely gut the Champions League and international competition (since players from these teams would be banned from FIFA). Goodbye World Cup, UEFA competitions... horrible. Just run the damn thing through UEFA, let them take their cut, and no permanent members. It would give those 15 clubs a ridiculous competitive advantage that no other teams in Europe would be able to overcome. And, if you want to run off talent that want to represent their country and have them play in China or for LA Galaxy, this is a great way to do it.

Part of me has been thinking: well, yeah, the super clubs have more in common with each other (from wage bills to global brand to players) than they do with their domestic rivals, and the original domestic leagues (finding the best XI in Britain) is nowhere near relevant in the age of global football. I see their reasoning for the league.
I also see that it's all in their interests, like FIFA acts in their interests.
It's going to come down to the players: guaranteed money with big clubs, or chance at money and maintained career among fans and home countrymen with the existing system and International play. I'm hoping for the second.

I just read up on this and I hate everything about it. The beauty of European soccer, which is missing from the American game, is the pyramid and the idea that a club could theoretically win their way up to the top league. Creating a closed league that encompasses the top teams from European leagues is the antithesis of this. Someone should educate the owners of the teams pushing for this (many of whom are Americans).

It's sickening, it really is.

I hate it. This will just even further separate the top teams from the other teams in their domestic leagues, which is the main problem with association football anyways. Can't be allowed to happen.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Dyno! I had no idea this was happening. I’m a Juventus and Tottenham and Bayern Munich (Davies) fan. This does create a have and have not situation. It’s kind of like what is happening in the NBA. There are like 7 super teams and the rest are just there. 🤬 the Super League!

From what I've seen, the only people in favor of the Super League are the people who own the teams that are going to be in it. How is this going to actually happen without support from anyone?
"We're creating this league to SAVE football because our teams are in danger due to the pandemic". Exactly what a super rich person would say when they've been hit the least by the pandemic financially. Is the Super League being run by the WWE Board of Directors?

So tonight Manchester City & Chelsea have announced their intentions to withdraw. Rumours are Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are following shortly.
On top of that, Ed Woodward, Uniteds chairman, has announced his resignation at the end of the year - I can only hope that the owners now sell up and finally get out of my club.
By all means, it's nowhere near over, but it's a start.

The whole Big Six have bailed as has AC Milan.
The PR statements have been a beautiful dumpster fire of "thanks to unnamed people who said unnamed things...we love our domestic league and our fans. So, yeah...we cool again?!?"
I'd still bet a cross border league happens at some point, but it'll at least involve everyone earning their way in from domestic leagues/cups
