Let’s Talk About Mic Spots

I’ve thought about this a lot in MMW, but it was finally The Bakery spot in 8MW that prompted me to post . I feel like there’s a lot of untapped potential.

IRL, these types of segments hosted by wrestlers ( whether it’s Miz or Jericho or Bailey etc) are rarely purely for promo purposes. If a wrestlers is hosting an interview, it generally means ‘something’ is going to happen.

But in game, whether it’s the Champagne Room or Luckys Lounge or The Bakery, there’s just a lot of ‘sameness’... same types get bonuses, same number of slots, even the cost is similar. So other than the artwork, there’s no reason to buy them. Game mechanics don’t justify getting them because they don’t do anything different from each other.

So here’s what I was thinking:

— simple ways to change them up would adding bonuses to different types of wrestlers or even different faction members. +1 to The Underworld in Luckys Lounge. +1 to Loners on Revivers Podcast etc

— I’m no programmer so I’m not sure if this is doable , but maybe random events are possible? So if you book a mic spot, there’s a percentage of a random injury occurs to the wrestler appearing in order to simulate a fight with the host or between participants. Or, during the animation, a random wrestler who hadn’t been booked that night pops into the screen and now you’ve got a reason to book a match on your next card.

Obviously you can always ‘use your imagination’ but I definitely think there’s some more that can be done with the Mic Spots, even if it meant requiring coins to upgrade those cards and unlock the new mechanic, I would absolutely love to see some spice added. It’s just a shame that I can book the Neon Express on The Bakery til the cows come home and never have to worry about Chet kicking Jesses head off.

Great idea. I tend to stick to the more generic Mic Spots for this very reason. I'd love it if an interview in Lucky's Lounge could be an ambush, or if they could make a random new friend in Club Electronica.

Yeah, I've definitely had the same thoughts as well. I've always used generic mic spots because you can interview more people and, well, there's really no benefit to using those specialised mic spots.

What Niz said about different random events for different mic spots is a great idea, or even elchicano's idea of adding rivalry bonuses or faction bonuses to those spots.

Example, Professor When Explains The Universe, that would prompt a faction bonus if it involves Mystic, but a rivalry bonus if it involves Monstro.

Also, surprise! Void ambushes When during his explanation of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. That would be pretty cool, imo
