This is only sort-of nostalgia, because I can remember when it wasn't like this, but I have a serious issue with the way WWE formats its shows and I don't know where else to vent.
The most recent example from this week's Raw was the United States Title match between Damian Priest and Dolph Ziggler. This is how it aired:
- Dolph Ziggler entrance Commercial Break - Smackdown Recap - Damian Priest pre-tape promo - Damian Priest entrance Commercial - Ring intros and match
The way this is set up, Dolph Ziggler had to spend almost and entire segment just in the ring or at ringside waiting. That's ridiculous. They could have done it this way or something similar:
- Damian Priest pre-tape promo Commercial - Dolph Ziggler entrance - Damian Priest entrance - Ring intros and match start Commercial - Remainder of match - Smackdown Recap
This is one area where AEW is vastly superior to WWE, despite WWE having an edge in production value and experience in producing television programs.
Does this aggravate anyone else as much as it does me?

It gets really awkward since whoever is in the ring has to vamp for time

It annoys me too Yup. Happens loads too.
I know in pre-Covid times from the tapings I went to over here years ago they used to stall by posing with fans, signing autographs etc - not likely to happen at the mo though!
