Some ideas:
Jobber/Opener Tournament - Winner gets "upgraded" (increased push + moving up to a midcarder... including merch improvement).
Trios - There are only 28 in the game, so either some teams would need a bye or you could throw together some makeshift teams
Only Good Guys, Only Bad Guys, or Only Tweeners
International/Interstellar - Not sure how many characters would qualify, but only include characters that are not from the US.

80s not included in 2019. Lots of favorites that didn't make it in the Tournament to begin with, plus all the additions since, give us a whole lot still. Enough in fact that we could start doing one-on-one elimination votes now just to get us down to our starting bracket in March

I’m hoping for a “no alts” tournament. It could have a great number of intriguing storylines..
If they win..
Will Hairy channel his inner Paul Wight in the 90s?
Will Sumo San reveal his true lineage as “Samoa?”
Will Detective X start his career as an officer and team with Chip?
Will Orion Northstar have a terrestrial side career as the Hawaii-based detective Terry Magnum?
Will I run out of “will” questions?

I've always found it weird that Big is active for 20 years and Lil only 10, as if Lil is supposed to have an Alt. Suicide is related to one of them (yet, weirdly, has no tag team/other connections except the description).
I'm not sure what Lil Thuggee could become in the '90s, but based on the description (something about being under a spell), the card is primed to get a babyface '90s alt.
As for Jam Gordon: How about a heel Alt based on Dennis Rodman, active years 1986-1999? They sorta did this with Slammer/Slugger (though that's just two versions of Reggie Jackson and not two separate players). Could also have heel Jam (would need a new name, too) form a tag team with Blockbuster.
