Holy hell, this year has already been nuts in terms of wrestling news. Vince is back, Stephanie resigns, and now WWE has reportedly been sold to Saudi Arabia. What are your guys thoughts on all this?
I'm gutted this happened before the Royal Rumble. I was looking forward to what Triple H could pull off, but I guess it's over again. The HHH era was fun while it lasted. Vince may have just destroyed WWE.
EDIT: Reports were premature, WWE hasn't been sold thank god

Vince just killed my interest in wrestling full stop.
I've gone off AEW because Tony Khan couldn't book himself a train ticket, nevermind long-term storylines.
HHH has improved WWE so much. There's a clear direction...until that senile old pervert returns and ruins it all again.
Just go away Vince.

I'm conflicted too.
I'm a pretty lax fan, with two little kids I don't have time to watch any shows (thus boosting their ad revenue requests or tv deals). I don't own any merch or go to any shows. I follow along with story lines from youtube recappers and all you fine folks.
But with both a serial abuser running the company and a serial human rights abuser making the money, even that makes me wonder if I'm too invested. I'd like to keep up with performers I've come to admire on the occasional reposted match and in the abstract of recaps: I've been reminded how much fun Rey Mysterio was and is (and all the joy of the silly Judgement Day super-seriousness), I've remained very fond of New Day and discovered new admiration for the Bloodline and the new class of women's wrestling (Rhea, Bianca, Raquel, etc.)...but it's hard to separate the creative talents from the company that so clearly controls what they can/can't do and makes the most off of them.
Part of me hopes this change brings a positive outcome I've yet to imagine (maybe SIF say "oh, nobody wants to hang out with you old man, you're fired so you can take your money and go, we're giving HHH free reign" or "hey we are terrible at offering rights to people in our own country, but we've got enough money that we can afford to let the talent unionize/get medical and retirement benefits like you'd expect for employees at a major company to have" or maybe an outside party says the same things and starts a rival promotion)...but yeah, feeling pretty grim right now.

Sale to the Saudis "completely false" according to "high ranking" sources. At least, as of right now.
WWE being sold and going private would be fine. Being sold to a questionable foreign investment group and having Vince be in full control would not be fine.

Well stated by A8MWR, Dyno, and Red. The new owner of the largest and most successful wrestling company on the planet is the murderer of Jamal Khashoggi and countless others, an oppressor of women, and leader of one of the most oppressive regimes on earth, Prince MBS (maybe not in name, but it’s his program).
I’ve been more of an AEW guy since their inception, but WWE was starting to draw me back in with Sami, the Bloodline, Judgment Day, and it was all related to Vince finally retiring. In one week, he has managed to turn me from a returning lapsed fan to a never again former fan.
I cannot, in good conscience, support anything involving their sports washing program. I refuse to watch LIV golf, I refused to watch one second of any of their Saudi PLEs, and I will now refuse to watch WWE again. I can only pray that in a few months, many wrestlers (especially the women) will head to AEW, NJPW, or Stardom, or even better, form their own promotion.
EDIT: Apparently last night’s reports were premature. I can only hope this is the case— we’ll have to wait and see.

And Vince got sued again, by Detroit cops apparently Detroit Police Officer Pension Fund, to be more specific. They are just one of many groups that holds WWE stock as part of their pension fund and/or 401K retirement funds and rely on those companies to succeed and do right by the shareholders. With all of the questionable moves Vince has made lately I'm honestly surprised there aren't more of these shareholder lawsuits. I guess the stock hasn't dropped enough to raise any flags. Yet.

Yay it’s not sports washing money, but I don’t expect this will end Vince’s run
