J-1 Pinnacle - Block A - Round Five - Duke vs. Thorin

Duke Mongoose (5) vs. "Lord" Taylor Thorin (0)

[Duke Mongoose]

LeRay: As impossible as it sounds, Duke Mongoose could make it to the finals if he can pick up a victory here tonight.

Beeman: That's it? That's easy!

LeRay: Well, he needs to win AND get help from the results elsewhere in the block.

Beeman: Oh, well, that's not as easy.

LeRay: Precisely. The only thing Duke can control is his performance here tonight, and he'll be facing an irate "Lord" Taylor Thorin, who I must say, has really been going through it lately.

Beeman: You're telling me? M'lord got thrown off a ship's mast and then was kidnapped by his former friends the EITC, had to be rescued by Chance and Rogers, and through it all he hasn't put a single point on the board. It's a gosh-darned Greek tragedy!

LeRay: I think you're confusing Thorin with Satyros.

Beeman: I WOULD NEVER!

("Fatal Charm" by Billy Idol has been playing in the background, as Duke has danced and pranced his way into the ring. He stands on the second rope facing out at all the booing fans in the JWA Studio, holds his tag team championship belt aloft, and poses)

LeRay: Duke will need to be careful tonight that this doesn't become a trap match. If he takes his Lordship lightly, it could cost him.

Beeman: If Duke doesn't win this match, it's going to cost ME!

LeRay: Aren't you prohibited from wagering on JWA events?

Beeman: Only at legal gambling establishments.

LeRay: Oh brother. Fans, we await the arrival of "The One and Only Lord of the Ring" Taylor Thorin. Don't go anywhere!

[Duke Mongoose]

(Overture from "The Marriage of Figaro" plays as Tembleberry leads "Lord" Taylor Thorin to ringside)

LeRay: Boy, the fans don't like either man in this one.

Beeman: I've gone on record, but I'll say it again: these fans are idiots. Two wrestling ICONS are about to square off and all they can do is boo.

LeRay: As Thorin is removing his robe and climbing into the ring, Duke has approached him holding his tag team title belt.

Duke: Looks like we know which of us was the weak link, huh "m'Lord". I'm Chet and you're Jessie!

(Thorin, enraged, shoves Tembleberry to the mat and charges at Mongoose)

LeRay: Whoa nelly! We've got a hockey fight on our hands as referee Jay Fairweather calls for the bell to start this contest!

[Duke Mongoose]

(Duke manages to gain the advantage with Thorin in the corner. Duke sends Thorin across the ring with an Irish whip)

LeRay: Mongoose presses the advantage and sends Thorin coast to coast - no! Tembleberry jumps across the top of the turnbuckle to cushion his Lordship's impact!

Beeman: Brilliant strategy!

LeRay: Thorin is risking disqualification! Mongoose charges in and Thorin drops down and rolls out to the floor, leaving Duke to crash into the turnbuckles!

(Thorin pulls Duke by the foot and drags him under the bottom rope to the floor)

Beeman: M'Lord looks ready to drop Duke with a big right hand!

LeRay: Whose side are you on?

Beeman: WHO CARES!

LeRay: OH MY! Duke manages to duck out of the way and Thorin's right hand smashes into the ring post! Wait a minute, what did he just drop?

Beeman: I didn't see anything.

LeRay: It would appear that during all of the commotion, his Lordship applied a set of brass knuckles!

Beeman: Prove it!

LeRay: No time for that, as Duke takes advantage and rolls Thorin back into the ring. Running Neckbreaker Drop by Mongoose and a cover - Thorin out at one!

["Lord" Taylor Thorin]

Duke slaps Thorin clean in the face after the kick-out and laughs in his face, before turning to the fans and doing the same, indicating not only has he got Thorin beat, but he's intellectually superior too.

Thorin is up but is met by a swift kick to the midsection by Duke, followed by a rising knee which sends Thorin down again.  Again Duke takes time to taunt.  On the outside Tembleberry please with Thorin to get up, but a camera close up of Thorin sees almost a look of resignation in his face?

LERAY: "Thorin looks truly beaten, he can't have much left after the last few weeks..."

BEEMAN: "See I told you Duke was the better man of the two!!!"

Thorin drags himself to his feet as Duke approaches again.  Duke once again slaps Thorin in his face.

DUKE: "The best move I made was dropping your sorry ass.  You're pathetic "m'lord""

Duke slaps him again and laughs in his face, Thorin doesn't respond.  Another slap...NO, Thorin catches Duke's hand before the contact.  Duke looks momentarily stunned, but swings his other fist looking for a swift punch, with Thorin also blocks...Thorin, now with a look of anger on his face looks Duke dead in the eye...CRUNCHING HEADBUTT!

Duke collapses to the mat covering his face...

BEEMAN: "See I told you m'lord was the better man of the two!!!"

LERAY: "Give me a break!"

Thorin now mounts Duke and begins wailing away with fists, most of which Duke is able to block but a few get through before the referee warns Thorin about using a closed fist...

[Duke Mongoose]

LeRay: Referee Jay Fairweather has to physically get between these two to break it up, and Duke uses the momentary distraction to poke Thorin right in the eyes!

Beeman: The old Greco-Roman Eye Gouge never fails!

LeRay: With Thorin stunned, Duke puts him in a front facelock. Could he be looking for a vertical suplex? Duke attempts but Thorin blocks! Now Thorin attempts and Duke blocks! Duke again, blocked again! Thorin again, blocked again!

Beeman: It's a stalemate!

LeRay: Duke tries to hoist Thorin again - no! Instead he takes him down in an inside cradle!

*One...Two...REVERSAL...One...Two...REVERSAL...One...Two......Kickout*

Beeman: I'm not even sure who's winning right now, but that was damn close!

LeRay: A series of rapid fire nearfalls and both men are on their feet. Duke connects with the Mongolian Chop! And another! And a third - no! Thorin blocks and connects with an enormous European uppercut that nearly knocked Mongoose out of his boots!

Beeman: This is getting out of hand! If only m'Lord had fought like this throughout the tournament!

LeRay: Indeed, as now Thorin looks to be setting Duke up for a piledriver, perhaps. Duke counters with a back body drop! Mongoose pounces and quickly muscles Thorin into position and drives him into the mat with the Jumping Piledriver! Cover by Mongoose!

*One...Two......Kickout*

Beeman: He got him! He got him!

LeRay: No he didn't! Thorin just barely escapes, and now Duke applies the Ionian Nerve Grip! Can his Lordship hold on?

[Duke Mongoose]

(Thorin reaches desperately and manages to poke Duke in the eyes, breaking the hold)

Beeman: Brilliant maneuver by M'Lord!

LeRay: Turnabout is fair play, considering Duke went to the eyes earlier in the match.

Beeman: Sure. What you just said.

LeRay: Thorin goes to whip Duke into the corner, but Duke reverses! Tembleberry again leaps to block the buckle, but Thorin reverses the whip! He didn't realize what was happening and now Duke crashes into Tembleberry in the corner! OH MY! Duke lays out Tembleberry with a big right haymaker! Here comes Thorin and Duke blasts him as well! We've got a replay of how this match started, as we've got another hockey fight on our hands.

Beeman: I didn't realize the heat between these two was this intense. This is ridiculous, LeRay!

LeRay: The fight has now spilled out onto the floor! They're walking and brawling!

Beeman: Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned Walk 'n Brawl.

LeRay: It looks like they're heading back toward the locker room area. Referee Jay Fairweather has reached a count of ten and thrown this match out!

Beeman: Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned Brawl to the Back.

LeRay: Duke Mongoose will only get one point and is eliminated from winning the group tonight, regardless of the other outcomes.

Beeman: Wait! There IS something wrong with this Brawl to the Back! Duke! YOU BLEW IT!

LeRay: I imagine your bookie is going to be looking for you soon, Sean?

Beeman: Oh just zip it, would you?

LeRay: Fans, stay tuned as we determine who will advance to the J-1 Pinnacle finals next week!
