The camera focuses on Conor and he looks genuinely shocked. He goes to get up and Kizuato tries to help him, but Conor assures him he’ll be fine.
PUTTERGILL: This is Conor Caine’s second win in a row for “Worker Of The Year” and he told our Toni Cruz on the red carpet that he didn’t expect to win tonight.
As Conor gets up the camera switches to Red Pirate Rogers, magnanimous as ever, applauding Conor. We switch to Winter Hex who looks outright offended not to have won.
PUTTERGILL: Winter Hex had her heart set on this prize and it’s plain to see the disappointment on the face of The Most Hated.
Conor passes Rogers’ table and stops to shake The Crimson Corsair’s hand. Rogers stands and the two share some friendly words.
PUTTERGILL: An impressive display of respect between nominees. I’m sure Sean Beeman is disgusted at the sight.
Conor’s on the steps as the camera cycles through shots of JWA wrestlers applauding, but wait! Winter Hex isn’t in her seat!
PUTTERGILL: Winter Hex has presumably left the show in protest as Conor Caine approaches Omega Satyros to receive his award…

Right as Conor is about to accept his award. From out of nowhere Winter Hex snatches the award. Sephiroth's One Winged Angel theme played and Winter grabbed the mic.
Winter: Don't you just love sound effects. Just listen to this bad ass music. Anyways, this award is mine! Will for ever be mine! There is no way in hell I would ever lose an award like this to some injured clown. Ever since I came into the roster, I always had a hatred for you. Arizona and Daisy too but besides the point. You don't deserve this. I DO! I worked day and night for this and there is no way in hell that some inactive like you just swoops in and takes the title. I know, you rigged this didn't you. Yes it's true, you rigged it. I was the true winner muahahahaha! And while I'm here why don't I make your little injury go for a bit longer. I'll put you right next to Bambi Bambino. But before I do, any last words?
Conor: Make sure you don't fly over my farm. Hate it when the cows start barking.
Winter gives a very confused expression
Winter: ... What? That doesn't even make s-
Immediately Daisy comes from behind giving her a sleeper hold. She pulls tight and soon Winter passes out. Daisy grabs the award before shoving her down to the ground
Daisy: As much as I would love this award. I believe this belongs to you
Daisy hands Conor the award before walking towards Winter and dragging her off the stage. Veronica helps by grabbing her legs and they both carry her out of the building with the crowd cheering for them. Once they leave the attention goes back to Conor to give his well deserved speech.

After Winter was dragged off, Omega stepped back forward, shook Conor's hand and gave him the award. He stepped offstage and went back to his table, where Black Cat was nursing the injury Winter had given him when he was presenting Most Hated.
Omega: Damn, Winter really did a number at this years show.
Black Cat: Yeah, remind me to look into legal action against her. That wasn't a match, and she had no right to attack me like that.
Omega: Will do. Think you'll be recovered by your Mania match with Arizona?
Black Cat: (perked up hearing mention of the match) Definitely. Luckily this week it's just the big JWA Year in Review episode. Not going to be many live matches for that.

I'm just relieved she didn't hit me with her finisher again. The audience laughs.CAINE: But in all seriousness, that (motioning towards Winter being dragged away) is a testament to the work ethic in the JWA locker room, and why it's such an honour for me to receive this award. Everybody here works their ass off year round, and while I might be the one holding the trophy I didn't set the standard. If I'm worthy of this award at all, it's only thanks to the work we all put in together, pushing each other to be the best. As such, I'd like to dedicate this award to all of you... even Duke Mongoose... but especially Daisy Turner, who was my pick to win this award. Thank you so much everyone, I'm more grateful than words can say and I look forward to the work resuming as soon as I can get between the ropes again. |
