Alright, hello everyone. I'm back again, this time with what I would consider the most important thing when making your shows. That's, the best wrestlers in the starting batch, as shown in the previous post I did (I might need these to be their own separate folder for future reference).
Before we get started with the guidelines, here are some things I want to get out of the way immediately.
Local Talent- These are cards that you want to avoid using at all costs. They guarantee that a match will be a dud regardless of who else they are working with, and that hinders the total star rating, which affects money. The only time using the Local Talent would be okay is in a Ladies match when starting out, as there are only 2 Ladies in the starting batch of wrestlers, and booking the same match twice in a row is never fun.
Ladies- Princess Starbright and Valley Girl are the only Ladies on the entire roster, but it is fair to say that despite Total Draw being the same, Valley Girl is slightly better due to a better Pop stat, where as Starbright has a better Push stat. Of course, until you get more ladies, you're stuck with these anyway, so it's not really fair to rank these at the moment.
Now with those out of the way, this leaves us with 18 wrestlers. I will go over the rules I will be using for this.
1. This is based on several factors, those being their Total Draw, stat distribution, and various other things on the back of the card. ALSO, this will take into account the Tag Teams and Feuds they are in right away. This will not take into account any potential tag teams or feuds they could be in (because some players might not be able to get the corresponding card to complete said team or feuds).
2. Good/Bad is not fully taken into consideration, but it will be important to keep in mind for future reference.
3. When referencing them, I will be mentioning them at their max stats, and no where in between.
4. This is based on subjective views and not objective views, as some wrestlers that are lower on the list may perform better than those higher on the list, due to how the players use them. With that all out of the way, here we go!
#18- Tennis Pro: "WHAT!? Are you kidding me!?" Sadly, I am not. Oddly enough, I tend to forget that this guy even exists in the game. He is the only Jobber at the start of the game, and his Total Draw is the lowest in the game. The worst part is, you can't even use Jobbers for "Openers Only" matches, making him even more worthless at the start of the game. He doesn't have any real benefits that any other wrestler couldn't have used better, except for his higher than usual Mic (we'll get to that soon enough). Other than that, he's the worst wrestler in the game, and I bet that you'll probably forget he even exists.
#17- Rad Racer: The guy may be totally radical, but of the wrestlers in the game, he is far from it. He has the lowest Total Draw of any Opener in the starting batch, and the only stat which is really passable is his 10 (Max) Skill, which is not a guarantee that you'll always hit. The rest of his stats are okay, but nothing really exciting as with a max of 7 Mic and Pop, you'll not get a lot of use out of this totally radical dude. Talk about a major bummer.
#16- Pat Cabbage: Before he tries to slam me, I'm not making fun of him with this. He is basically the same as Rad Racer, but with 1 more stat in Push. Other than that, they are literally the same guys.
#15 & 14- The Insectoids: The Insectoids are a Tag Team, which does put them higher than most, and their 12 Skill is better than everything else seen so far. However, the major things holding them back from being any higher are their weak Total Draw of 28 and the fact that they are a Good Tag Team, when there's already one that does better. The only other benefit, is that they are available for all 20 years of the game.
#13- Johnny Kobra: No mercy for the wicked, as Johnny Kobra slithers his way to the number twelve spot. Again, he has a good 12 Skill, but the rest of his stats are basically copy paste of Pat Cabbage.
#12- Cesar Sleaze: Cesar Sleaze can rock, but he has a lower Total Draw than Kobra, so why is he better? That's because he has a better Mic stat, at 11. This fills a particular category that is otherwise avoided. Filling a crucial void is probably the most important thing you can do. When doing matches on Superstar Saturday, obviously, Cesar is bad, but when promos are involved, this guy "rocks" compared to most other openers.
#11- Jessie Wild: Hop aboard the Neon Express, it's time for Jessie Wild. He has the same Total Draw as Cesar Sleaze, and he has similar stats to Kobra. The major reason he's better, is because he's in a Tag Team known as the Neon Express. Because of this, Jessie Wild becomes slightly more valuable as a Tag Team player, even if his partner is doing most of the work.
#10- Red Pirate Rogers: Red Pirate Rogers is, average at best. He has basically the same stats as Kobra and Wild (worse Skill, actually), but with a bit more extra push. Because of this, he's, passable at best for the Midcard scene. He is in a Tag Team known as the Adventurers, but it doesn't really do him much favors.
#9- Keith Blood: I see you over the halfway point, Keith. Well, it's because the guy is a Jack-of-All Trades. He's good at everything, but excels at nothing. He gets a Total Draw of 33, and his stats are good around the board. His Mic, Pop, and Push are better than most openers in the game, though while he does sacrifice Skill, he still is a good draw because of it.
#8- Zen: Zen is actually good. He has a good total draw of 37, and while his Skill is basically like Kobra and Wild, he actually gets a great Pop rating of 13 on top of the good Push. While his Mic stat is lackluster and he does not have any feuds or tag teams, Zen is actually a good wrestler in the game, all things considered.
#7- The Piranha: The Piranha has similar stats to Zen, only with 2 less Skill. So, how is it that the Piranha is better than Zen? The simple reason, is that he is in the only starting Feud (A Feud is This), and with the recent update, it could make a low 2 star into a 3 star encounter, something that Zen can't do. The Piranha is hungry, and he can simply eat up the competition when it comes to getting bookings.
#6- Star Boy: Mega Man death sound aside, Star Boy is a really cool dude. He has the second highest Skill rating in the starting batch at 14, and he has 8 Push, which makes his low Mic and Pop (Rad Racer standards) actually seem fine. The guy is a great Skill based wrestler, and at a Total Draw of 36, he can definitely draw a good crowd for the starting moments of the game.
#5- Iron Mask: Iron Mask is a wrestler with solid stats all around. He has a lot of stats similar to the Piranha, but he has 5 more points in Mic (going up to 10). This extra bonus in Mic can help him get some solid promos in without sacrificing much. He doesn't have any feuds or tag teams at start, but he is good on his own.
#4- Chet Skye: Believe it or not, this is actually an Opener. Chet Skye is one of the best Openers in the entire game, reaching a Total Draw of 39. He has a Skill of 14, and he has a Mic of 13. While his Pop is Rad Racer levels of average and his Push is only 5, he has great Mic work and great Skill work. Add on the fact that he's in a Tag Team with Jessie Wild, you'll be riding that Neon Express to a good time with Chet Skye.
#3- Pelvis Pressly: If you have any blue suede shoes laying around, now's when you want to slip them on. He has similar stats to Iron Mask, but while he does have 1 less in Push, he has 3 extra in Mic. This makes him really good in promos, something that will need to be filled constantly. Add on the fact that he's a Showman and will never fail a promo, you have all of the inner workings of the Bad Shoe Blues.
#2- Dr. B: The B stands for bad, but not because the card is bad, but because he is a bad man. In fact, Dr. B is the Main Eventer that you get in the starting batch, and he definitely holds that reputation up high. He has a Total Draw of 52, and while he does have Johnny Kobra and Jessie Wild like Skill, he has the highest Mic and Pop out of everyone in the batch, with a whopping 15 in each, not to mention a 10 in Push. The only things preventing him from being #1, are that he's only available for 11 years of the game, and he doesn't have any Feuds or Tag Teams (as far as I know, not even in the game at all). He's still a flagship player, and you shouldn't take him off the cards.
#1- Arizona Chance: He's just a guy looking for fortune and glory, but he's found the golden spot on this list. Arizona Chance has 15 Skill (which is the highest of any wrestler in the starting batch), 10 Push just like Dr. B, the second highest Pop rating at 14, and a good Mic rating at 12. On top of that, he's available for all 20 years, AND he's in a Tag Team with Red Pirate Rogers. Overall, Arizona Chance has the best stat line of most wrestlers in the game as a whole, and as a Upper Mid card wrestler, he definitely sets the bar high for anyone to take his place, as your top good guy.
So, that's the list. If this helped you determine some important factors about how to go about booking your shows, then do say so, and do not be afraid to mention and critiques you may have.
Next time, I'll go over booking a show (which is the most important part of the game), and how to set everything up. Until then, see you guys later.
