Another week, another round in the greatest tournament in wrestling - the J-1 Pinnacle! Let's take a look at this week's card:
Block A
Conor Caine (3) vs. Mack Caliber (1)
Yet another installment of "As Domination, Inc. Explodes!" this week, and both competitors are looking to get a rebound victory after coming up short last week. Caliber slipped on a banana peel, so to speak, against the World Champion, while Caine ran up against the unstoppable force that is Slashmaster. Did the loss last week push Mack further over the edge? Did looking death in the face increase Caine's fortitude? This is going to be an interesting one, to say the least.
Duke Mongoose (2) vs. Thumper Moore III (0)
Fresh off his rest week, TM3 is back in action this week and he'll be going against the World Champion. Both Duke and Thumper need a win this week to try to keep themselves in the conversation as far as winning the block goes. It would certainly be a statement victory if Moore is able to defeat our champion. Big Daddy Duke won't got quietly, however, so this has the makings of a real heavyweight scrap.
Slashmaster (6) vs. Omega Satyros (2)
After a surprising upset loss last week, Omega finds himself going from the frying pan into the fire. Slashmaster has looked nigh invincible since returning to JWA, and oddsmakers are putting him as the favorite to go undefeated and win the entire J-1. Thumper Moore couldn't stop him. Conor Caine couldn't stop him. Duke Mongoose couldn't stop him. Could the Divine Rage of Satyros, who is competing this week under protest, be enough to topple the living embodiment of fear? While his chances of winning the group are slim, Satryos could play the spoiler this week and put a dent in Slashmaster's armor.
Block B
Penguino (4) vs. Pierre The Enormous (4)
A battle for the top of group between two undefeated competitors! Inaugural Openweight Champion Penguino squares off against current Openweight Champion Pierre. Both competitors are fan favorites and generally good sports, but with the top position in the B block on the line, could we see one or both of them bend the rules a bit? Johnny Kobra will be in Penguino's corner, and we know he's not afraid to break a rule if it benefits him. Who will come out on top?
Chad Shredsbury (2) vs. Red Pirate Rogers (4)
It seems that Shredsbury just can't catch a break this year. Two draws and a loss put him in a position to be eliminated this week, so he'll be desperate for a win. Red has two victories so far, and was only bested by Openweight Champion Pierre. As he continues his quest to make it to the J-1 finals for a third time, a victory this week over last year's winner would go a long way towards making that a reality.
Artemis (2) vs. The Greatest Wrestler OF DOOM (1)
It's yet another "David vs. Goliath" encounter for our first-ever female competitor, as this week The Huntress will face off against the gargantuan girth OF DOOM. Artemis is hoping to claim another scalp, while DOOM will be hoping to keep his chances in the tournament alive.
Off: King of Games (4) & Bayou Burl (1)
