First off...love, LOVE this game. Spent endless hours on it and, yes, spent $20 for the additional coins as my civic duty for the amount of time I've played it. If you haven't paid for anything, I encourage you to do so as it is the least you can do for the devs for making such a great, addictive game.
Honestly, you have two ways to play this game. One way is as a collector and completionist. The other is as a traditional wrestling booker.
Currently, I'm playing as a collector, trying to bump up everyone's stats as quickly as possible to earn their merchandise card (or simply complete the stats of the foil cards). When I have nearly completed the collection (I'm on day 22 and have collected 423 cards. I've played through all 20 years and have restarted, currently on 1981), I will then play as a booker and be able to more enjoy the booking/rivalry/competition process much more. BTW, did you know you can build the local talent fighters stats as well, even though you don't get a merch card.
But either way the game is played, it is absolutely fantastic and has absorbed all my free time (kids and wife excluded...lol). Thanks to all the devs and the excellent artists (it was Werner Mueck's FB page that made me aware of this game in the first place).
Favorite wrestler: Magnus Muscle (and yes, I had a giant M.U.S.C.L.E. Men collection growing up)
P.S. Tommy Tough deserves a special edition card in the future. lol That dude has flawlessly played the "Brooklyn Brawler" role for me endless times, and has won his share of matches!
