It seems really dumb that the foil version of someone isn’t the same person as the regular version. Titles don’t carry over, tag teams don’t carry over, feuds don’t carry over... those all seem as totally counter intuitive as possible. Why is it done that way? I’ve having to force my regular version champs to lose their belts and the moving them to the foil version... that seems silly.

My best guess is that it’s the way the game is programmed— in order to have foils be separate cards available for purchase in the shop, everything has to be separate, including title possession, tag teams, etc. For me it’s a minor annoyance that doesn’t break the game. I actually use it to give me more storytelling options— a guy gets beat for his belt, trains hard, hones his craft, and comes back as the foil version— a better version of himself.

It is an inevitable conundrum for game's with currency systems that does not seem to have an easy solution: upgrades/updates that serve the maxim, "The rich get richer." Yes, now the game does have foil cards for tag teams and feuds. That solves the old problem of having to choose between using the flavor cards for normal cards or just using the foil versions. It creates a new one, however. Now, the logical end point of normal cards is to be given the opportunity to buy their foil cards, which are even more expensive. There's no incentive in using the regular cards once you get enough foils. The only ways you're going to get the in-game capital you need is either through heavy play and/or real-life money.
Thankfully, 8MWR is a non-competitive, single-player game, so there isn't a hard paywall and you really can't call it a "free-to-play, pay-to-win" model. I don't necessarily disagree with your stance, though. I do wish the statistics were combined, but it's also not really a pressing issue as far as what the developer's probably feel they should be focused on.

I would mind if the STATS didn’t change... but the titles at least should be on the same guy.
