I was inspired by my own revelation recently about Dr. B. Hadn't even realized it until I got to thinking about 80s icons and wondered if there might be a Mr. T guy in there somewhere...and then I scrolled right past Dr. B will booking my show & it dawned on me that Dr. B = Mr. T. So I thought it'd be fun to make a thread for those of us who suddenly "got" who a particular wrestler is based on in 8MW, after being completely clueless about it for a while. So, my latest case of derpiness is Magnus Muscle. At first I just assumed he was a big, overly-muscled dude much the like ones who would show up across random territories in the 80s, win a couple squash matches, but ultimately stink up the place with their poor match quality & never been seen again. Then I noticed that Magnus is billed from Japan, but he doesn't look Asian in the slightest. Well, it just hit me today that he's a generic pink wrestler from M.U.S.C.L.E. (which I was aware of back in the day, but failed to see the appeal of them since they weren't articulated at all & thus boring as hell to play with).

There's a few dudes I'm having a hard time finding a real-life counterpart for, but I'm not gonna admit it in case they're too obvious and I'm just spacing out.

I loved M.U.S.C.L.E. I used my imagination to move the limbs, just like the big LJN WWF figures.

Figured out today why the Blade Blasters are names Lazer & Buzzsaw. For some reason, Lazer being Sting made sense to me, but I couldn't make a connection between Buzzsaw and either Rock, Dingo, or Ultimate Warrior. Then I realized...
Lazer, Buzzsaw, Blade...all are cutting tools.

Hey gang, really enjoying this game. I was born in 85, so I think some of the things referenced I'm not familiar with that might be rather obvious. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to recognize Keith Blood and Max Attack, but I picked up on Dr. B rather quickly. Anyway, I wonder who Chameleon Kid and Moon Man are satirizing... is Trogolo Captain Caveman? I recognize the Thuggees from Temple, but wonder if the models are based on celebs or anything? Similarly are Starboy/piranha based on something or just cool original masked wrestlers? What about the Mullet Cousins? Moondogs?
I had totally forgotten about Crash Test Dummies or that I had some of their toys growing up. So much fun!

Star Boy and Piranha are based on the old Nintendo Pro Wrestling game characters Star Man and The Amazon.

At first I thought the Mullet Twins were takes on the Dukes of Hazard LOL
Chameleon Kid could be aplay on Koko B. Ware or maybe the videogame Kid Chameleon?

Hey everyone!
New to the game(into my 3rd year) and loving every minute of it! Glad I found this board! Learning a lot of new things.
I don't get the Ace Arcadium / Ace of Spades reference...Just homage to arcade gaming?
Please enlighten me! LOL

Took me 1 in-game year to realize "Honest" Al's IRL comparison

I'm probably overthinking this but there's a few that are a bit confusing to me. The Mullet cousins, Moon Man and Pat Cabbage When you look at height weight and location ?

Thank you but here was my thoughts: I figured Pat Cabbage but Mount Yonah threw me off. The Moon Man looks to me like Buzz LIghtyear. I agree with the Mullets

Ace Arcadium and Ace of Spades are in reference to the "good" and evil" types of gaming. With Video Games being "good" and Gambling being "evil"
The Mullet Cousins I think are a mix between the Hillbilly Family (From WWF in the mid 80's) and Southern Patriots who still carry the confederate flag insisting the South never lost The Civil War.
Pat Cabbage is a reference to the Cabbage Patch Kids with his finisher (The Garbage Pail Driver), a reference to the Garbage Pail Kid (a more disgusting version of the Cabbage Pail Kids)
Ones I figured out recently
Officer Chip, a reference to the CHiPS TV series that ran from 1977 to 1983
Rad Racer, a reference to Xcitebike
Hammerhead, reference to Ivan Drago from Rocky 4
Red Pirate Rogers, a reference to Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride
Tennis Pro, reference to the growing popularity of Tennis
Papa Chopper, reference to the Mad Max Movies
Slashmaster, reference to 80's Slasher Movies most notably Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street.
