So me and my girlfriend made a deal that I’ll listen to her music and watch anime she wants me to watch if she lets me introduce her to the world of wrestling. I’ll like some suggestions on what I should show her. What I plan on showing her is: Ecw Daniel Bryan Cm Punk John Cena Being the Elite NJPW Wwe vs wcw A video I personally love that I believe is called something like Wrestling is Wrestling or something like that, that tells the story of Triple h’s career from his debut to nowadays Moves that made me go holy shit Botchamania And others but like I said I’d like suggestions whether it’s certain wrestlers, famous moments/matches, rivalries, videos, almost anything and I want a small description on why you believe this is important to the introduction of wrestling.

There is a YouTuber named super eyepatch wolf who has a video which I believe is called "why professional wrestling is fascinating" or something like that. He does an awesome job of explaining the storys that make wrestling awesome. As an anime fan myself it honestly goes hand in hand with wrestling when it comes to the storytelling aspect of it.
If ur looking for current stuff to show her I'd go with the Kofi vs Daniel Bryan storyline and the whole Becky lynch story from Summerslam on. I'd say both of those are the best storys wwe has done in years.
Also maybe some of the NXT takeovers. My girlfriend is not a wrestling fan but she did take an interest in the gargano vs ciampa storyline just by watching the takeovers with me. Same with Becky Lynch.

It might be a bit of a weird suggestion, but my go to match to show non fans is Reigns vs Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31. When you watch it without knowing about Roman's monster push it is really entertaining.
It's a WrestleMania match, so people immeadiately see how big and spectacular Wrestling can be.
The promo package does a good job of hyping the match up.
Brock looks like a proper monster, which makes it all the more impressive that Roman keeps getting up.
It has a small dose of wrestling weirdness in the form of a Money in the Bank cash-in
It ends on a high note with Rollins becoming the new champion

If you are familiar with the Attitude Era Podcast, one of the guys from that has another one called “How 2 Wrestling.” I’ve only heard clips when Maffew links them on Botchamania’s social media accounts, but it is basically a podcast along the lines of what you are doing with your girlfriend. I think anything like that where someone Involved has the “fish out of water” thing going on is good for that - so something like “Nobodies Watching Wrestling” may also help.
Representation is often important to people to connect, so I’d make sure you throw in some good women’s wrestling. It challenges the whole “two guys rolling around half naked” trope that a lot of outsiders use reductively. Thankfully, WWE is doing a much better job with their women these days, so maybe that is enough. If she responds positively to New Japan and her interest in anime has created any sort of fascination with Japanese culture, I’d consider exposing her to Joshi puroresu. All Japan Women in the 90s has some of the best pro wrestling period, regardless of gender. There is plenty of that floating around places like YouTube and Daily Motion. My favorite wrestling promotion right now is Stardom so I’m not going to miss a chance to put in a plug for them. They have a streaming service that gives you access to all the most current shows for a very reasonable price. The nice thing about it is that they do English subtitles for pre-match promos and any mic work that happens in the ring. It’s where Io Shirai and Kairi Sane came from, so if she responds well to them in WWE/NXT, it gives you an in on that. If you don’t really have a lot of knowledge about the world of Joshi in general, I can give you some suggestions.

Wrestling isn't wrestling is one of my favorite videos. I recommend Hart vs Austin at mania. The Shield vs evolution, or Shield vs Hell No and Ryback is also really good.

ANY attitude era show is good.
Just dont make the mistake of viewing it dressed as Mandonna like I did when I introduced my gf to it. Trust me on this.

I agree with Slash. Roman v Brock at Mania 31 with the cash-in and the fans going nuts. Follow that up with the Raw where Foley won the title in the most overbooked match in history and she’ll be hooked. (Especially since she knows Foley’s opponent already.) The most important thing is she’ll see that people care— the pop when Rollins cashed in and the pop when Stone Cold’s music hit in the Foley v Rock match were both epic.

Okay an update for this thread but I took my gf to watch a wrestling show in Newark, Ca called btw. She loved it. Some famous people there were Sabu, Rich Swann, Joey Ryan, and Su Yung. She said that it was very entertaining and she would like to watch more live shows.

I wish there'd be a promotion like ecw again.(I don't count czw, seems too trashy to me, even though my all time favorite Wrestler Mox came from there) it had this feel to it.

You want a promotion like ECW... but you don’t want it to be trashy. I feel like that is like saying you like ice cream, but you don’t want it to be cold.

CZW does dumb shit that shouldn't ever be in wrestling. ECW was waaaay better.
